Creating beauty is an act of love. In practice, that means attention — to the place, to the building, to the people who will live in it, and to what is easy to overlook when a hundred decisions arrive at once.
That attention runs through all four phases, from the first conversation to a space that can actually be built.

Briefing & Consultation
We start by understanding the project.
My role is both creative and coordinative. I develop the interior, but I also communicate with the architect, engineers and other specialists involved in the project. An interior cannot be designed independently from the building around it. Key decisions need to be coordinated and checked for feasibility early, so that the different parts of the project work together.
Once I have reviewed the available project documentation, we meet and ideally visit the site that will become the project. We talk about how you live, what you need and what you want from the space.
At the end of this phase, we have completed the appraisal and the basic evaluation, and now know what the project requires.
For smaller projects, the fee proposal is already in place after the first call, and we go straight into the design process. For larger or more complex projects, this is the point at which you receive a proposal covering the services your project actually needs.

Conceptual Design
How a space works and how it feels are inseparable.
We first establish the functions and their relationships within the space. How you move through it, what you need from it and how the different rooms relate to each other.
From there, we continue the inquiry into what genuinely belongs to you and how your space should feel. What do you want to invite in? Freedom. Intimacy. The feeling of dancing barefoot. Those words bring clarity. From them we find the materials, textures, shapes and colours that carry them. Only now do we use images to set the style and aesthetics. Guided by those findings we build a conceptual moodboard, haptic as well as visual, setting the overall mood and style. I call this spatial biography: translating who you are into the space you will live in.
Once the direction is set, the design develops room by room: floor plan, materials, colour, light and shapes, with a moodboard for each space. We work through several stages and revisions together, online or in person. Every step is reviewed and approved before we move on.
You receive a cost estimate for the draft concept. Once the estimate fits your budget, we move on to detailed planning.

Detailed Design
From concept to detailed planning.
Every decision from the conceptual phase is translated into a plan and specified in detail. This includes floor plans, elevations, drawings for the individual trades, visualisations and the full specification of products, finishes and craftsmanship. The design is coordinated with the architecture and the other trades.
At the end of this phase you receive the room book: a single document holding the plans, specifications and product details for every room. This is the package your architect, contractors and craftspeople work from.
Now, the design also becomes financially tangible. You receive a cost overview that reflects the actual interior concept rather than a generic allowance for finishes.

Execution & Delivery
Making sure the design is actually built as intended.
The level of my involvement depends on what you and your project need.
On request, I can gather tenders from the trades, stay involved in the communication with the relevant project participants and establish a clear plan for the execution phase. Where needed, I am present on site at important milestones and check that the work follows the agreed design.
